3.15 Event Promotions - Social media - Social networking strategy
Social media marketing is all about networking with your potential customers and audiences. Its a great way to interact with them and make them a part of your community. There are a number of sites that offer such platforms for networking, I’m just going to mention a few of the more popular ones here.
1- First of all we have Facebook.com which is growing rapidly amongst people and is incredibly popular. It allows you to find your target demographics and speak with them directly. It also allows you to form groups and event pages over it, where you can discuss your event directly with the attendees.
2- For professional networking, we have Linkedin.com - which allows you to build your professional networks and find people in specific domains of interest to you. You can network with your vendors, partners, associates, attendees all in one platform on a more formal level.
3- For sending quick updates to your audiences and for gathering an active following, use Twitter.com as a microblogging service. Its great for sending quick and short updates about your event before or during it.
4- MySpace.com was very popular for social networking a while ago and still has a big consumer base that you can tap into. People who use MySpace regularly are usually ardent fans of it and it becomes the best way to reach out to them.
5-Lastly, Squidoo.com is a platform that allows you to build pages (called lenses) and store all of the info that you want to share with your audiences in one place. Your pages become part of search engine rankings and are a means of getting to your markets.
